

Barbara Sue (Lepchenske) Huston, 77, resident of Piedmont, Oklahoma, died early in the morning on Saturday, July 28, 2012 at Mercy Hospital in Oklahoma City. Born in Jacksonville, Florida on May 18, 1935, Barbara was the oldest of eight children born to Claude and Lillie Lepchenske.
She was married for 33 years to Charles Dix Huston, raised her family in Piedmont, and worked for many years at F&M Bank before her retirement. She attended the First Baptist Church in Piedmont where she was a member of Senior Citizens as well as a greeter. She enjoyed a full social schedule which included holding various offices in the Oklahoma Homemakers Cardinal Group, a member of the Bookcase Review book club, Zeta Rho Sorority, an investors group, and TRIAD. She also enjoyed birthday celebrations with the Piedmont Party Girls, and was a member of the Piedmont Historical Society, active in Founders Day support, tours, and quilting for mothers and babies in need.
When her family was young, Barbara spent many weekends at the lake, where she particularly liked fishing and waterskiing. She loved art her entire life, and her ceramic pieces and paintings are still enjoyed by friends and family. She also enjoyed shopping with her daughter, and passing her baking knowledge down to her granddaughters.
Barbara is survived by daughter, Brenda Huston of Piedmont, her son and daughter-in-law, Mark and Theresa Huston of Edmond, and her son, Rodney Huston of Oklahoma City; Grandchildren Mandy, Ashley, Melissa, April, Marcy, Anthony, Mason, and Tyler; 20 great-grandchildren; brothers Bobby of Tulsa and Herb of Georgia, sister Carolyn of OKC, and brother Jerry of Illinois; as well as many nieces and nephews, great friends, and wonderful neighbors.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Charles Dix Huston, brother Gary of Oklahoma City, and sisters Janey and Patty of Ponca City.
