

Barry Clark Gable was born at Baptist Hospital in Oklahoma City on December 20, 1964 to parents William Clark and Ruth Elaine Gable. He passed away on March 21, 2015. Barry was baptized and later confirmed his faith in Jesus Christ as his Savior at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Oklahoma City. Barry attended Coronado Heights Elementary School and was a 1983 graduate of Putnam City North High School. He attended college at the University of Central Oklahoma where he played baseball and was a member of the Kappa Sigma fraternity. While at UCO, Barry was named a top ten freshman student and was nominated for a Harry S. Truman Scholarship. He was the owner of the Long Ball sports card shop and had a lifelong passion for collecting and dealing in sports memorabilia. He loved baseball and was a devoted fan of the Milwaukee Brewers and his favorite player, Robin Yount. Barry was proud of his collection of Rob Yount memorabilia which included nearly 200,000 items. His other passions included his three cats, playing golf, the University of Oklahoma sports, Thunder basketball and trivia. He was the captain of a trivia team that won a statewide championship in 2014, and a member of a team that won the statewide Super Bowl of Sports Trivia in both 2007 and 2012. Barry had a great love for animals, providing rescue to many. Barry was preceded in death by his grandparents, Ralph and Letha Mae Meyers and Dick and Dora Gable; his fiancée, Nancy Anderson; and his cousin, David Rumsey. He is survived by his parents, Clark and Ruthie Gable of Oklahoma City; brother, Corey Gable of Oklahoma City; aunt and uncle, Linda and Mike Gable of Mead, Oklahoma; aunt Carol Gable Emerson of Plano, Texas; and aunt and uncle Dorothy Mae and the Reverend John Rumsey of San Diego, California. He is also survived by his very close cousin, Pastor John Rumsey and his wife, Karen, of Guthrie, Oklahoma. Memorial service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, March 27, 2015, at Immanuel Lutheran Church at 1800 NW 36.
