Bedford J. Smith, 88, resident of Oklahoma City, passed away Monday, October 18, 2010, at Integris Southwest Medical Center in Oklahoma City. He was born in Mangum to Gaither and Zera Smith, a family of three boys and two girls. The family moved to Bakersfield, California, in the 30's. BJ was married to Lena B. Vawter in 1943 and in 1951 moved to Pampa, Texas. He built a vending machine route which was Panhandle Amusement Co., and operated that for 25 years. Since retiring he spent his remaining years in Oklahoma City. BJ is survived by his former wife, Lena; one son, Ron Smith and companion Robin Cadle; two granddaughters, Pam Keeler and husband Mick both of Ponca City and Rhonda Adams and husband Barry of Austin, Texas; and three great-grandchildren, Dane, McKenzie and Lane. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Bill Harrison and Price Harrison; one sister, Ima Holmes; and one stepdaughter, Dawn Watson.
