

Berna Lindsay Correll, age 99, of Dallas, Texas passed away peacefully on June 22, 2012 at Sunrise Assisted Living of Hillcrest. She was born on March 31, 1913 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to her parents, James and Cora Lindsay.
Berna was the younger of two children. She married William Ray Correll in Oklahoma City on February 19, 1954. They had one child, Linda. Berna attended Oklahoma State University. She was a real estate broker for several years before co-founding and operating the Acorn Day Care Centers with her partner Lois Swabb. Berna was a lifetime member of the First Church of Christ, Scientist, Oklahoma City before moving to Dallas in 1999. She enjoyed teaching children, playing bridge, arranging flowers, painting, and being with her family.
Berna will be remembered by her daughter, Linda Correll and son-in-law, Bill Naifeh; her grandson Alan Thies and his, wife, Deborah; great grandson Michael Thies, his wife Peggy, and their children, Hayden, Brenden and Landon; her nieces, Maxine Goddard and Paula Weaver and nephew, Philip Ratliff and their families. Berna was predeceased in death by her parents, James and Cora, her husband, Ray, her step-daughter Mary Margaret Thies and her sister, Carma Ratliff.
Services will be held at 10 a.m., Wednesday, June 27, 2012, Hahn-Cook/Street & Draper Funeral Directors, 6600 Broadway Extension, Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Longyear Museum, 1125 Boylston St, Chestnut Hill, MA 02467.
