

Bertha Mae Moore, 100, of Oklahoma passed from this life on December 8, 2016 with her loving family by her side. Services have been entrusted to the care of Guardian West Funeral Home and service celebrating her life will be held on Friday, December 16, 2016 at 2pm at the Guardian West Funeral Chapel with interment to follow at Spring Creek Memorial Cemetery in Oklahoma City. Public visitation will be held on Thursday, December 15, 2016 from 12pm to 8pm with the family greeting friends at the funeral home from 6pm to 8pm Thursday evening.
Bertha Mae was born on May 1, 1916 in Garber, OK to Roy and Myrtle Coffin. She was raised and attended school in the Garber/Covington area and graduated from Covington High School in the early 30's. Shortly after graduation she met a boy while working at the drug store in Guthrie and in 1934 she married the love of her life James Moore. Bertha Mae and James spend six decades together and raised three children. They moved to OKC for a short time before relocating to Hobart, OK in the early 50's where they purchased and ran the Hobart flower shop.
Several years later they moved back to the metro area where they both went to work for Furrow & Company wholesale florist. Bertha Mae enjoyed her time there because it allowed her to work with James. James headed the floral shipping department and she acted as the bookkeeper.
Bertha retired in the early 80's and this allowed her to spend more time doing the things she enjoyed like gardening, cooking, and playing in several card clubs with James and their friends. She was a talented seamstress who made quilts and oftentimes would make the clothes from herself and her children,. Bertha was also a skilled artist who excelled at oil painting. She spent the last decade of her life living at the Brookdale Living Center on Council Rd and she made many friends there and was a staff favorite due to her kind and generous nature.
Blessed by good health and an ornery and independent spirit, Bertha Mae was able to remain cognizant and mobile up until a few weeks before her passing. Those who knew that she was a woman of great faith who attended Christian Science Churches over the years and she also loved spending time with her family. Bertha Mae Moore made many wonderful memories during her century of life and she will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Bertha Mae was preceded in death by her parents, her beloved husband James, and four siblings. She is survived by her three children: Jimmy Don Moore and wife Marlene, Beverly (Moore) Smith, and Jerry Moore and wife
Dorla; six grandchildren: Brad, Mark, Steve, Dana, Stacy, and Craig, as well as numerous great grandchildren and other loving relatives.
