Betty was born in Healdton, Oklahoma to her parents, Lorene Overstreet Jones and Floyd H. Jones, Sr. She was their only daughter and had two brothers, Floyd H. Jones, Jr. and Jimmy Ray Jones.
She was a happy child and young adult with a wonderful smile that could capture your heart. She loved school and many social groups throughout her life. After moving to Ardmore, Oklahoma, she was a member of the WCV’s, had many friends and was an exceptional student.
Later, living in Norman, Oklahoma, she graduated from Norman High School and attended the University of Oklahoma. She also met the love of her life, George Paul Michael, Sr. They were married July 2nd, 1956, at the First Baptist Church officiated by Preacher Hallock.
They had three children, Stephanie Michael Valdez, Susan Michael Lathrop, and George (Paul) Michael, Jr. She loved George and her children with all her heart.
Her family was her main focus, and she was a wonderful wife and mother. We are trying to process this monumental loss in our lives.
She enjoyed raising her family and pets (mainly yorkies and horses), loved anything “plaid,” even naming one of the family yorkies “Plaidie.” She was involved in her community as well as being a long time member, Deacon, and Elder at the First Christian Church in Norman. She was a Kappa Kappa Gamma Sorority Mom and a Phi Delt Fraternity Mom to her children. She was a member of the Assistance League of Norman, Daughters of the American Revolution, and the Colonial Dames of America in the state of Oklahoma. She was an exceptional researcher of her family lineage. She was the most supportive, encouraging, loving mother and wife a person could ever imagine. We will miss her tremendously, but know she is now in a beautiful place with her husband George, son Paul, her mother, and the many family members and pets in Heaven.
Those preceding her in death are her husband George Paul Michael, Sr., son George Paul Michael, Jr., her parents Floyd and Lorene Jones, and her brother Floyd H. Jones, Jr.
Betty leaves behind her two daughters and their husbands, Stephanie and Eddie Valdez, Susan and Tony Lathrop, her brother Jimmy Jones and Carol Roberts, other relatives, and many, many friends.
We want to thank her friends, Elizabeth Baxter and Debbie Schaer for their supportive help and friendships, and the staff at Norman Regional Hospital for the compassionate care during her brief stay.
A visitation will be held at Hahn-Cook/Street & Draper, located at 6600 Broadway Extension, Oklahoma City, OK, 73116-1298, on December 19, 2025, from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm.
