Bettye Ruth Morland passed away on March 27, 2016 in Midwest City, Oklahoma. Born May 12, 1935, she was the daughter of John Calvin Maston and Ruth Irene (Reddout) Maston. In her long life, Bettye moved around Oklahoma, living in Midwest City, Enid, and Alva, where she pursued various careers, including being the owner-operator of a retail liquor store. Bettye loved crafting and sewing; she had a sixth-sense for craft fairs, knowing immediately upon entering a town whether there was one in the area. She traveled with gusto, re-learning how to ride a bike in South Carolina, leading a cross-country road trip through the Rockies, and walking under the ancient giants of the Redwood National Park. She wrote poetry, stories, and Letters to the Editor, and you could always find her with a book or crossword in hand. But, perhaps, most importantly, she was Grandma and loved spending time with her grandchildren. Bettye was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands, Emory Allen and Darold Morland; and brother, Bob Maston. Survivors include her son, Michael Ray Wheeler of Seminole; her daughters, Deliena with her husband Roy D. Mercer of Yukon and Linda with her husband Greg Stong of Enid; her grandchildren, Daniel Mercer, Mark Mercer, Jessica Zephyrs, and Allison Griffith; her great-grandchildren, Drayden Griffith, Addalee Griffith, Emory Griffith, Kaylee Griffith, Cooper Mercer, and Ryker Mercer; her sister, Sharon Kay Green of Midwest City; and the father of her children, Richard Delbert Wheeler of Elk City, Oklahoma. Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, April 1, 2016 at Bill Eisenhour Northeast Chapel, 8805 NE 23rd St., Oklahoma City, Oklahoma 73141.
