Byron Jose Fuller, AKA Jose, Papa, Big B, and Babe, 68, of Midwest City, passed away suddenly on March 29th, 2023. Byron was born on May 6th, 1954, in Little Rock, Arkansas to Glorious Wilson and Garland White.
Byron proudly served in the Unites States Navy from 1977-1997 during the Gulf War. He served on numerous ships during that time and worked many different jobs, dealing with data processors and computers. He received numerous medals and ribbons. They were Navy "E" Ribbon; Fifth Good Conduct Award; Navy Expeditionary Medal; National Defense Service Medal; Southwest Asia Service Medal; (2) Sea Deployment Ribbon; Kuwait Liberation Medal (Saudi Arabia); Kuwait Liberation Medal (Kuwait) and the Navy Achievement Medal. Byron retired from the Navy in February of 1997 after serving 20 years for our country.
June of 1997 is when he met the love of his life, Glenda. They had a one year long distant relationship until in June of 1998 Byron moved from California to Oklahoma to be with Glenda. Byron and Glenda married in January of 1999. Byron did not know that once he married Glenda that he would become a big part of her family. With that being said they welcomed him in and loved him more than he could ever imagine. He also became the father of 2 more sons and 2 bonus daughters and later down the road a papa to 6 loving grandkids that think the sun rises and sets in him. He was loved ever so dearly by all his in-laws. He was the apple of his mother's eye and his sisters loved him with all that they had. He was their Big Brother and no one can ever replace him. All that came in contact with him loved him and respected him for the man that he was. He was a great husband, provider, protector, dad, papa, son, brother, uncle, and friend. He was always there for whatever the need and jumped into action to do what was needed. He fell in love with the Native American culture and their beliefs. He became one with all of it and followed their ways.
Byron's hobbies included bowling, going to OU football games, hanging out with the cousins at Pow Wows and bowling tournaments and most importantly playing and doing whatever with Glenda and the grandkids...Glenda the kids and grandkids were the most important thing in his life. There was nothing that he would not do for them. He always put them first. Byron had the biggest, kindest and most open heart. If he loved you, he truly loved you and he showed it in many ways. He loved grilling and having all the kids and grandkids over to eat.
He will be greatly missed by all that knew him. He was genuinely the best that a person could ever ask for in a soulmate, dad, son, brother, uncle, and papa.
Byron is preceded in death by his parents, Garland White and Glorious Fuller, a daughter TaShara Fuller and father-in-law G.C. Brown (better known to Byron as Pops).
