

Carol Anne Williams Heggie, 82, passed away on September 6, 2015 in Oklahoma City after several years of declining health. She was born on September 12, 1932 in Ronda, NC to Arnold V. and Ina Rebecca Stroud Williams. She grew up in Winston-Salem, NC and graduated from Mineral Springs High School in 1950. Carol attended Cabarrus County School of Nursing in Concord, NC and Piedmont Bible College in Winston-Salem, NC. Carol married Dewey A. (D.A.) Heggie on September 5, 1953 in Winston-Salem, NC, and they were married for 62 years. Throughout her life, she worked with an oral surgeon in North Carolina and as a pharmacy technician in Missouri. She also worked in public relations and promotions for Weight Watchers of Oklahoma, as well as in the banking industry in New Jersey, which she retired from after fifteen years. Carol was a member of several quilting clubs and taught many individuals and classes in both Oklahoma City and New Jersey. She was a facilitator of Disciple Bible classes for several years at Church of the Servant, taught Sunday school for many years at different churches, was a Girl Scout leader and President of the PTA in Missouri, and was a longtime member of Beta Sigma Phi. She was a past member of the Oklahoma City Hospitality Club, as well as a member of Clubbettes. Both Carol and D.A. were past Presidents of the Regency Dinner and Dance Club.
Carol is preceded in death by her parents, Arnold and Ina Williams, and sister, Loretta Faye Taylor. She is survived by her husband, D.A.; daughters, Cristi Lynn Andrews of Yukon, OK and Julie Anne Likes and husband Randy of Yukon, OK; sister, Rebecca Arnold Williams of Winston-Salem, NC; grandchildren, Amy Curren and husband Michael of Mustang, OK, Cristina Holloway and husband Joshua of Choctaw, OK, Brian Harris and wife Kaylie of Okinawa, Japan, and Tricia Likes of Vienna, WV; and great-grandchildren, Shayla, Kyndal, Tristan, Troy, Daniel, and Caleb.
A formal visitation will be held Thursday, September 10, 2015 from 6-8pm at Chapel Hill Funeral Home, 8701 NW Expressway. Services will be held 10:00 a.m. Friday, September 11, 2015 at Church of the Servant United Methodist Church, 14343 N. MacArthur Blvd, with burial to follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, 8701 NW Expressway. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to Church of the Servant or Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation.
