

Charles Wendelin Halm (CW) was born in Thornton, Colorado on June 18, 1950 and was baptized and confirmed at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Thornton. His family transferred to Goodland, Kansas in the 1960’s and he later traveled to Silver Creek, New York to study for Priesthood. He returned to Goodland in 1967 and completed high school. After high school he served with the United States Marine Corp in Vietnam. He was discharged with the rank of Lance Corporal on May 5, 1974. He returned to Kansas and attended Fort Hays State University in Hays, Kansas where he met his beloved Debra. He graduated with a BS in Biology in 1974. After graduation, he was employed as a chemist with Cessna Aircraft Industry in Wichita, Kansas. Upon leaving Cessna, he held several sales positions and finally took a Sales Manager position at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens relocating to Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. In 1989 he joined with Physician’s Mutual Insurance Company where he stayed until he retired in 2008. Charles and Debra became members of Messiah Lutheran Church on June 14, 1987. Charles served the Church as a Sunday school teacher for young and old, held the office of Evangelism Chairman more than once and was a member of the Praise Team Band. Charles left this work to be with his Heavenly Father on April 22, 2010. He was the seventh of eight children born to Don and Jennie Halm. He is survived by Debra Niermeier Halm of the home, two sisters, Joan Kahler and Rose Blackford, both from Denver, CO, one brother Robert (Bob) Halm of Wintersville OH, many nieces and nephews, great nieces and great nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Donald Robert Halm in 1985 and mother Jennie Gardner Halm in 2006, four brothers, Don Robert Halm, Jr., Kenneth Halm, James Halm, and Jerald Halm. Charles was an active member in a World-Wide Organization, The Gideons and the Vietnam Vet Center. He attended Bible Study Fellowship for over 15 years and a member of Messiah’s Men with a Mission.
