

Charles Sherman Mayfield, 93, of Oklahoma City went to heaven on Monday, October 03, 2011. He was born in Muskogee, Oklahoma on August 30, 1918 and was preceded in death by his parents, Charles H. and Marie R. Mayfield and his sister, Naomi E. Provines. He graduated from Classen High School in 1938 and was married to Dorothy Hannah at First Christian Church in Oklahoma City on August 30, 1938. They were married for 73 years. He is survived by his loving wife, Dorothy, and two sons, Charles Hank and wife Caroline and David Mike and wife Kathy; sister, Helen Trujillo; grandchildren: Charles Scott Mayfield, David C. Mayfield and wife Alishia, Michelle Everett and husband RayDon; great grandchildren: Nicholas and Madelyn Mayfield, and Courtney Everett; niece and nephews: James L. Provines II, Robert W. Provines, Stephen J. Provines, Colleen Oakey and Sherman Courtney. His Career entailed oil well cementing, wireline equipment, wireline logging and perforating for 70 years. Charles brought joy to his family and friends with his loving, thoughtful and generous acts of kindness. He will be remembered as a friend to all who knew him. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Meadows Center for Opportunity, 1000 S. Kelly, Edmond, Oklahoma 73034. The Mayfield family would like to thank the dedicated staff of the Quail Creek Nursing Center for their outstanding care of Charles. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Thursday, October 6, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at Hahn-Cook/Street & Draper, 6600 Broadway Extension, OklahomaCity, Oklahoma 73116.
