Anybody that knows Charlie, knows that Pam was the love of his life and his reason for living. Charlie and Pam married on June 12, 1965. Charlie and Pam have been married 58 and a half years. They grew up together, learned together, traveled together, and built a beautiful family.
Charles is survived by wife, Pam Oldfield; daughter, Charla Whipple and husband Paul; and son, Kevin Oldfield and wife Jennifer. He was blessed and survived by 11 grandchildren; Korum, Brianna, Braelyn, Ryese, Ava, Jayden, Skyler, Christopher, Emmaleigh, Cherish, Isabella and four great-grandchildren; Avery, Coleson, Waylon, and Melody. He is preceded in death by his parents, Edward (Barney) and Bertha Oldfield and sisters, Margaret Zweiacher, Patsy Boswell and 3 infant sisters.
Charlie always made friends and connections with people everywhere he went. No matter the job he had he was connecting with people. He started as a young man working as part of the “Inventory Crew” at Humpty Dumpty grocery stores. He went on to be a part of Safeway’s management team. He made connections across the city when he worked as a bread man with Bond Bread and later Rainbo Bread. Charlie was still meeting with his bread men buddies once a month for breakfast. After working as a bread man he continued to make connections with people as he went into sales for William E. Davis & Sons. He excelled in sales achieving the Salesman of the Year Award along with many trips all over the world and many other awards. It was during his time at William E. Davis that he flourished and developed friendships that have remained throughout his life. Charlie was always such a hard worker giving everything 110%.
Charlie and Pam spent their lives together. They played together, enjoyed life together, and survived challenges together. Charlie and Pam both have deep faith and daily discussed their gratitude to God for his faithfulness and his goodness in their lives. It was due to God’s work in his life through AA that taught him lessons of love and discipline. Charlie was sober 44 years and forever grateful for his friends of Bill W.
He was a walking miracle after he survived a stroke that transformed his life when he was 50 years old. This new view of life led to much growth and many life changes. Part of this new life led him to become a “blind man”! He and Pam bought and grew an illustrious business in The Shady Lady Interiors. Their son Kevin and grandson Chris Oldfield work in the family business along with their loyal staff Amy Rogers-Wright and Ann Gatton who are like family. Charlie loved working with customers and always had the philosophy that if your main goal is to help other people get what they want you will in turn be rewarded. This was also the season of life when the blessings of grandchildren began. Charlie and Pam continued to build connections with lifetime friends and with people in business, in the community, and with their family, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He will be deeply missed.
A memorial service for Charlie will be held at Southern Hills Baptist Church, 8601 S. Pennsylvania Ave, OKC, OK 73159, on Friday, January 19, 2024 at 2:00 pm.
