Charles M. Way, born 11/19/19, Kansas City, MO, to Charles M. and Bessie May Way. He was one of seven children. He played the cornet in his high school marching band. After the death of his father he helped his mother run their moving and storage business.
After finding a film developing kit that had been left in one of the storage units, he discovered a love for photography and soon went to work for Ragen's Photo Shop in Kansas City, where he met his beautiful wife-to-be Dorothy. The first time he saw her she was coming down the stairs putting on her lipstick, and it was love at first sight. They married June 13, 1941, and were married 66 years before her passing in 2008.
He returned from WWII in 1946, where he had served as a reconnaissance photographer and photo finisher in the Pacific. Carla Louise was born that year, and three years later Michael was born.
Mr. Way was a member of Central Presbyterian Church, where he taught Sunday School to the elementary children. He was eventually ordained and served as a deacon and later served as an elder. He was honored by his church as elder emeritus in his later years.
Mr. Way always put God and family first. His profession was also very important to him. He moved to OKC to manage Elko Photo Products. When Elko closed he worked for two other photo finishers in OKC. His last job was his favorite, where he was General Manager for Blunk Studios Custom Developing and Finishing. He retired from Blunk Studios at age 81. Mr. Way was greatly admired in his profession as a kind and fair employee and employer.
He is survived by one daughter, Carla Russell, of the home, one son Michael Way and wife Becky, six grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and 7 great-great grandchildren. He inspired them all.
