Christian Edward Duffner was born December 20th, 1960 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to Clarence Edward and Gloria Walters Duffner. Christian passed away June 9th, 2022 after being diagnosed with kidney cancer one month before.
Chris was a gentle soul , simple in his objectives but deep in his thoughts and cares for others. Chris took great care of his mother Gloria taking her to church, the symphony, art museums, and visiting family.
Christian was funny and carefree as a child with his dachshund “hot dog” and loved playing baseball. Early on after attending Eastfield college in Dallas he worked for Stan Woodman as a draftsman in OKC. He emulated his father C.E. Duffner who was a builder/developer in OKC.
Chris was an artist who had a creative mind with an individual style of painting. He always had a theme in mind for the next painting and some were created specifically for a family member or friend. Art was his passion and he attended many art classes in Oklahoma City over the years and painted on his father’s drafting table at home. Chris found inspiration for his paintings from different sources such as traveling and music, including the symphony performances he attended. The themes of his colorful paintings always had a message and a story. Another long time hobby had been building and shooting off rockets at Lake Hefner.
His bosses Ashley and Shane at Uptown Grocery store held an art show where friends and priests from All Souls attended. He was looking forward to the next one so much! He loved working for Buy For Less and Uptown Grocery with many employees and friends until just recently.
After his mother departed he moved to a condo where his late brother David Duffner helped him arrange his paintings. Chris loved visiting his brother David in Palm Springs and his sisters in Mississippi and Arizona.
The family is very grateful for the help from friends who saw him through last year’s spine surgery and his recent diagnosis with kidney cancer. They include: Tina and Glen Webster, Jarette and Jan Mankin, Beth Myers, Patricia Rogers and many others. Neighbors Trese Bradford and Camille Thomas were wonderful. Also, Dr. James Gilbert, Dr. Jordan Morgan and all the nurses and doctors on the 4th floor at Mercy Hospital.
Chris was a special brother and friend who held a place in everyone’s heart. Chris will be greatly missed by everyone and is now in a wonderful place resting in peace.
Donations can be made to NAMI of Oklahoma City or the Oklahoma Museum of Art.
Chris was preceded in death by his parents Clarence Edward Duffner and Gloria Walters Duffner of Oklahoma City as well as his brother Dr. David Walters Duffner of Palm Springs, California and sister in law Jana Bigham Duffner of Palm Springs, California. He is survived by his sisters and brother in laws Dianne Duffner DelCid and Donald DelCid, Claire Duffner Anderson and Carl B. Anderson lll. Also, his nephews Jason Laurence; Lawton Laurence, Carl B. Anderson lV, Christopher Edward Anderson, Christian Eric Duffner and niece Haley Laurence. Christian also loved seeing his great nieces and nephews Carter and Cate Anderson; Halsey and Bayard Anderson of Dallas, Texas and Landon and Sophia Laurence of Chester Springs, Pennsylvania.
