Dale Lee, Jr was born on September 17, 1935, to Marion Dale Lee and Blanch (Fast) Lee in Britton, OK. He passed away peacefully at his home in Choctaw, Oklahoma on May 21, 2025, at the age of 89. He graduated from Jones High School in 1955 and entered the military later that year. Dale was very proud of being a U.S. Army Veteran where he received the “Expert Marksman Award”. In 1958, he won 1st place in the M-1 Rifle Competition of the 1st Battalion 9th Infantry – which consisted of more than 1,000 soldiers.
He worked at Oklahoma Natural Gas as a regulatory technician for 30 years. He retired at the age of 55 and always said that “a day you spend fishing; is a day you add to the end of your life”. For the entirety of his life, he loved doing things outdoors, including fishing, hunting, and gardening. However, the greatest times in his life included time with his family. Beginning with hundreds of early mornings sitting on the lake with Diane, fishing under the bridge at night with Olive and the girls and then staying up all night cleaning their catch.
As his family grew to include grandkids and great grandkids, they quickly became the clearest joy and pride of his life. From trips to the lake, Disney World and Las Vegas, to riding 4- wheelers, fishing, wrestling on the floor, hunting mushrooms, setting off fireworks, and having wiener roasts. In the weeks before his passing, he shared many thoughts with his loved ones. He talked about his faith in the Lord and how important it was to follow God’s word when leading your family. He repeatedly expressed what a good life he had and how proud he was of his family, ---his wife, his daughters, and their kids and grandkids. He was very thankful for his nephew Donald (who was like a brother to him) and his wife Debi. He said he knew that his daughter Dayla and granddaughter Amanda were waiting for him in heaven. He said that even though he never specifically asked for it, God knew he needed a son, and God made his son-in-law Darren that son.
But what he talked about the most over the past month was the love of his life, Olive. He tells of seeing her for the first time and knowing immediately that she was the one. They were married 5 weeks later. When it was mentioned to him that 66 years is a long time to be married, his response was “Not when you are married to someone like her. It’s way too short of time”. He absolutely adored her and everyone knew it.
Dale is survived by his wife Olive Lee, his brother Raymond Lee, his sister Connie Lee, his daughter Diane and son-in-law Darren, 5 grandchildren (Bonnie and husband Anthony, Ricky and wife Lisa, Gary and wife Becca, Cory and wife Maranda, and Megan), 10 great-grandchildren (Taytum, Leah, Aidan, Lily, Dean, Leslee, Carson, Olivia, Maggie, and Cora), one incredibly special nephew Donald Kidd and wife Debi, and numerous other nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents Marion Dale and Blanch Lee, his daughter Dayla Kuhlman, his granddaughter Amanda Kuhlman, his sisters Lola Kidd, Vera Goodridge, & Opal Patterson, and his brother Wayne Lee.
