David was born in June of 1943 in Champaign, Illinois, to Tony and Betty (Oliger) Sherrill. He was the oldest of nine children, a role he carried with strength and quiet leadership throughout his life.
He grew up in the Oklahoma City area and graduated from Putnam City High School in 1961. Shortly after graduation, he married the love of his life, Cherita Walker. Together they built a beautiful life and shared 62 wonderful years of marriage, a true testament to their love and devotion to one another.
In 1985, David and Cherita moved to Texas to be closer to their daughter, Dava. After many years there, they returned home to Oklahoma City in 2020.
David worked faithfully for National Foundation Life, where he ran the print shop for over 20 years. He later continued his career in sales within the printing and graphics industry.
Outside of work, David fully embraced life. He loved golfing, bowling, and fishing, and he never passed up an opportunity to enjoy country music or share a dance. He treasured time spent with family and friends, creating memories that will be held close for generations.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his siblings, John Sherrill, Linda Sherrill, and Michael Sherrill.
David is survived by his devoted wife, Cherita Sherrill; his daughter, Dava Carson; his siblings, Laura Bruner, Carl (Robin) Sherrill, Russell (Debbie) Sherrill, Nita (Bruce) Brooks, and Rita Sherrill; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins who will deeply miss him.
