

After a valiant and courageous battle with idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis, Don Bloustine, 66, passed away on December 7, 2011. The son of Jay and Helen (Epstein) Bloustine, was born in Kansas City, MO on August 19, 1945. Don graduated from Wentworth Military Academy in Lexington, MO, attended the University of Oklahoma, and was a graduate of Upsala College, East Orange, NJ. He began his long and fulfilling career as a geologist with Kirkpatrick Oil Company and John A. Taylor, later venturing out on his own exploring for oil and gas. He was most proud of his recent venture participating in the development of the Marcellus Shale play in Pennsylvania. Beloved by his employees and many friends, Don had a larger than life personality with a unique and very funny sense of humor. No one could tell a story better than Don Bloustine! He loved life and lived it to the fullest. His hobbies and adventures were many and varied. Soloing at age 16, he had a love of flying, a love passed down to him by his father, along with fishing, hunting, woodworking and traveling around the world. Don became an excellent gourmet Chinese cook, a builder of radio controlled airplanes as a member of the OKC TORKS Club, a collector of antique cars, an excellent scuba diver and a large boat owner with his beloved Nipple Up. He leaves behind his wife, SgtMaj Pam Bloustine USMCR (Ret), his son, Scott, his daughter, Amy, his sister, Barbara, a host of cousins who were more like siblings to him, and many nieces and nephews. He was a caring and loving husband and was loved and adored by Pam’s very large family as well. He will be missed by his Golden Retrievers, Ted and Tori, his Arabian horses, Thunder and Lightning and his Jerusalem donkey, Sugar. He passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones. Services will be held in the Sanctuary of Temple B’nai Israel, 4901 N. Pennsylvania Ave., on Friday, December 9th at 1 pm, followed by interment at the Temple’s Memorial Park Cemetery, 13400 N.
