

E.L. Burns, loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, departed this earth for eternal life Saturday, January 15th, 2011 at home surrounded by his family. Mr. Burns was the founder, owner, and operator of Burns Paving Company, Inc., Asphalt Producers, Inc. and Burns Racing Stables. Mr. Burns began the development of his construction companies founded by him in 1957. Born in Sallisaw, OK on December 4th, 1933, the youngest of eleven siblings, Mr. Burns served in the United States Army, was a member of the Masonic Fraternal Brotherhood, Siloam Lodge 236, and a member of India Shrine Center. He and his wife Georgia Burns were married December 31st, 1952 then raised and nurtured a large, beautiful family until her passing March 10th, 1997. They were parents of Eldon Larry Burns, Melody Burns Doty, and George Stephen Burns. A son, Darryll Glenn Burns, preceded them in death in 1983. Other survivors are eight grandchildren Eldon Larry Burns Jr., Edward Lance Burns, Elizabeth Lynn Doty Leggett, Edward Everett Doty, George Stephen Burns Jr., Geoffrey Glen Burns, Vivian Burns, and Darryll Joshua Burns. Mr. Burns is further survived by three great-grandchildren, Payton Woolard, Ethan Luke Burns and Elija Alexander Burns, sister in law Ginger Payne, daughter in law Marianna Webb Burns and numerous nephews and nieces. Fun loving, handsome E.L. was an astute business man, exceptional father, inspirational grandfather, loving husband and the rock that continued to keep the family together. A man of incomparable greatness, he was loved and respected by everyone who was privileged to know him. He shall be missed by his loved ones and his many friends whose lives he happened to touch. Memorial service to be held at Hahn-Cook/Street and Draper Chapel on Wednesday, January 19th, 2011 at 11:00 A.M.
