

Emma Belle (Johnson) Van Hauen, 85, was born on June 18, 1926 in Walters, OK to Vera (Wade) and John Johnson. Emma lost her second battle with cancer and passed away on September 9, 2011. Emma was a wonderful loving daughter, sister, wife and mother who will be greatly missed by her family. Emma graduated from Capitol Hill High School in 1943. Prior to her 17th birthday, Emma went to work at Tinker Air Force Base as a property and supply clerk. Her family moved to Midwest City in 1945. She married Clarence Van Hauen on May 11, 1947 and their daughter Sherrie was born in August of 1954. Emma took time off to raise their daughter and returned to work at Tinker in 1965. She retired in April of 1985 with 30 years of federal service. Emma was preceded in death by her parents, Vera and Hugh O’Brien and John Johnson; her husband, Clarence Van Hauen and her grandparents, Warren and Emma Wade. She is survived by her daughter, Sherrie Van Hauen of the home; her brother and wife, Thomas and Betty O’Brien of Midwest City; nephew, Hugh O’Brien of Midwest City; niece, Tracey O’Brien of Moore; cousin and husband, Melinda and Dwayne Boatwright of Alex, Oklahoma and the remaining Boatwright Gang. The family wishes to express its thanks to Dr. Stephen Hamilton and his staff, plus the staff of Quality Hospice Care for their loving care given to Emma during her fight against this disease. Funeral services will be held on Monday, September 12, 2011 at 10:00 am at Bill Eisenhour Northeast Chapel with interment at Arlington Memory Gardens.
