

Ernestine Edgar Cook died Monday, November 6, 2017. She was born November 20, 1920 in El Reno, Oklahoma, the only child of Frank and Mabel (Leafgreen) Edgar. After her father’s death in 1930, she and her mother moved to Lucien, Oklahoma where she lived for 8 years. She then moved to Enid, Oklahoma where she worked for Champlin Refining Company for 5 years. She married LeRoy H. Cook, Jr. in 1945 in Kansas City, Kansas. Her husband was a pilot in the US Air Force; they were transferred to Dallas, Texas where she worked for Braniff Airways until her husband’s untimely death in 1947. She then moved to Oklahoma City where she worked in the Executive Offices of Kerr-McGee Corporation for 23 years. Her last position was Executive Administrator for a manufacturing company in Torrance, California. She moved to Tucson, Arizona in 1979, and returned to Oklahoma City in 1980. Mrs. Cook was a member of Cherokee Hills Baptist Church where she was the care giver in her Sunday School Class. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband. She is survived by several Edgar and Leafgreen cousins. A graveside service will be held 1pm Friday, November 10, 2017 at McGuire Cemetery, Lucien, Oklahoma.
