Patrick Ingle was born on September 10, 1979, in Wilmington, Delaware to Reba and Grover Ingle. Patrick and his mother, Reba, moved to Oklahoma City when he was 2 years old. At the young age of 3, Patrick was diagnosed with a Wilm’s tumor ( a children’s form of kidney cancer) and received radiation and chemotherapy and went into remission. He was able to survive with a single kidney until January 29, 1986. He then received a kidney from his mother and did very well. Patrick started Boy Scouts with troop 660 and went to Fort Hill, PA to the Boy Scout Jamboree in 1993. Patrick received his Eagle Scout Award in 1994 and was the youngest member of his troop to receive that honor.
Patrick has always loved and collected eagles. He attended Kerr Junior High, and their mascot was an eagle. When Patrick was 15 years old, his transplanted kidney failed, and he started hemodialysis three days a week. In 1997, he was elected by the Oklahoma Children’s Hospital to be the representative for the Children’s Miracle Network. He traveled to Washington DC to meet President Bill Clinton at the White House. He graduated from Del City High School in 1998 with honors, also the eagles. He attended Rose State College and graduated with an associate’s degree in Radiology in 2002.
Patrick remained on dialysis for 17 years until he received a second kidney in 2011. After this transplant, he was able to travel with his mother and enjoyed his life during this time. In March 2024, 13 years later, that second kidney rejected, resulting in him going back on dialysis. His health began to gradually decline over the next year.
Patrick’s favorite color was green because it symbolized “Life Transplants”, as well as his beloved Philadelphia Eagles. If you knew Patrick, you knew he was an Eagles fan. He was overjoyed when his team won Super Bowl 2024! Patrick was a talented cook and baker. He made delicious bread, jams, and jelly. He won several blue ribbons in both the county and State Fairs. He took the best of show in fruit in peaches last year at the Oklahoma State Fair.
Patrick began attending St. George Greek Orthodox church in 2008. He was blessed to serve in the Altar with Fr. John Tsaras, and was always willing to help train the younger boys as they started to serve in the altar. He is survived by his mother, Reba Steiner of OKC, his father Grover Ingle of New Castle, Delaware, and cousins Harry Moss, William David Moss and Debra Moss of Maryland, and Cousin Jason Freemon of Oklahoma. He is preceded in death by Grandmother Thelma J. Main, grandfather, Daddy Bill Main. Both of his Aunts Lewis Ann Freemon and Eona Jean Moss of Maryland; grandmother, Florence Ingle, and grandfather, Grover Ingle, and Uncle Tommy Ingle of New Castle, Delaware, and a baby brother, Jonathon.
Above all, Patrick loved God, and his church community where he will be greatly missed!
