Gage Leon Duke, age 17, of Little Axe (Newalla), Oklahoma. Gage passed away on April 10, 2026, just weeks before what would have been his 18th birthday. He was born on April 26, 2008. Gage was a student at Little Axe High School and was known for his bright spirit, courageous heart, and the smile that could light up an entire room the moment he walked through the door. Gage had a personality that was impossible to ignore—full of humor, confidence, and a belief that he could make anyone laugh. Many times, he believed he was the funniest or smartest person around, and that playful confidence was just part of what made him so uniquely Gage. Gage loved drawing, building with Legos, and spending hours playing Xbox. He had a creative mind and an imagination that allowed him to see the world in ways others sometimes didn’t. One of the most special things about Gage was the way he saw people. To him, there were no strangers. Gage believed that everyone was either his friend or part of his family, even if they had just met. He loved people with his whole heart and treated everyone the way he would treat his own family. All Gage ever truly wanted was to belong, to be included, and to be loved the same way he loved others. Throughout his life, Gage faced challenges with incredible courage. He never wanted to be defined or judged by his disabilities or by his diabetes. More than anything, he wanted people to see him simply as Gage—a boy who wanted to laugh, make friends, fit in, and be accepted for who he was. Those who knew Gage will forever remember his big heart, his fearless smile, and the way he made people feel like they mattered.
Gage is survived by his loving parents, Ashley Duke and Scott Brawdy, and his former stepfather, Brandon Strange. He is also survived by his maternal grandmother, Donna Duke, and his paternal grandparents, Ronny and Connie Brawdy. He will be deeply missed by his siblings: Tyler Brawdy, Easton Brawdy, Jakoby Rees, and Kiersten Brawdy. Gage also leaves behind many loving aunts and uncles: Haley Duke and husband Alex Roche; Tabatha Hunziker and husband Rusty; Sarah Brawdy and husband Kyle Hagle; Jessica Justus; and Johnathan Martinez, along with many cousins and extended family members and bonus families who loved him dearly. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Fred Duke; his maternal great-grandparents, Maxime and Theresa Theriault (Pépé and Mémé); his uncles Billy Doyle and Christopher Johnson; his great-uncle Steve Duke; and his great-aunt Angie Whittimore. Though Gage’s life on earth was far too short, the love, laughter, and light he brought into this world will live on forever in the hearts of those who knew him.
My sweet boy, you were my heart walking outside my body. I loved you from the moment you were born and I will love you for every moment beyond this life. No matter where you are, you will always be my baby, and I will carry you with me until I see your beautiful smile again.
