

Garnett Hardrick was born on February 17, 1946 in Vinita Oklahoma. He was raised alongside his siblings Clyde Jr. (Robin), Nancy, Flora, and Anthony as the fourth of five children born to Clyde Wilton Hardrick, Sr and Flora Bell (Kirkendoll). He spent his youth in Vinita attending First Baptist Church and graduated from Vinita High School in 1964.
After graduating from Vinita High School in 1964 Garnett moved to Tulsa and wed his wife Doris. Shortly after, Garnett was called to serve his country and went to serve in the Vietnam War. During his service he was awarded two Bronze Stars in recognition of heroic/meritorious service in a combat zone. He was later honorably discharged after completing his military duties.
Upon his return he continued his education and began attending Southwestern Oklahoma State University. While there he earned his bachelor’s degree in Psychology, and would later pursue a Master’s degree at East Central University in Ada. As an adult he loved to learn and excelled in his studies.
Garnett would go on to live in numerous cities throughout his life including Tulsa, Oklahoma; New Orleans, Louisiana; Ada, OK; and Wichita, Kansas before settling in Oklahoma City. During this time he held many positions, but spent the majority of his career working as a psychometrist and psychological therapist for the Oklahoma Correctional System and the Oklahoma Public School System. After settling in Oklahoma City Garnett attended East Sixth Street Christian Church, serving as an avid member of the church choir and mens group.
Garnett was a very talented individual in many areas. He had a beautiful voice but often had to be persuaded into showcasing his abilities. Though reluctant, he participated in numerous gospel groups/choirs throughout his life. He was also a gifted sketch artist, an avid reader and loved to do mind challenging puzzles and games.
Garnett was known to be quiet, humorous, compassionate, and having a generous heart. He loved his family dearly and found joy in making them happy. He liked to spoil those around him, especially his nieces and nephews who he treated as his own children.
Garnett passed away on June 23, 2025. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clyde and Flora Bell Hardrick; brothers Clyde W. Hardrick, Jr; John Kirkendoll; Lawrence Kirkendoll; James Kirkendoll; and sisters Flora Marie Crawford and Gracie Walker. He leaves to cherish his memory, sisters Nancy Johnson of Michigan; Doris Grimes of Frederick, OK; Ruth Perry (Toby) of Frederick, OK; and brothers Anthony Hardrick (Marsha) of Wichita, KS and Jesse Kirkendoll (Vickie) of Clinton, OK; numerous cousins; and a host of nieces and nephews. Garnett will be dearly missed by all who knew him and may his memory bring comfort to those who did. Thank you to everyone for your thoughts and prayers.
