Our matriarch was the eldest child born in a cabin in McConnelsville, OH to Floyd and Helen Lindimore on December 20, 1919. She moved into heaven the evening of November 5, 2012. In between those two dates, she lived a very full life by working for the American Red Cross in Washington DC and the European theater during and after WWII, marrying Paul A. Stuart, Jr. on October 6, 1949, and supporting and following him, while he served our country in the Air Force. They were married for forty-five years until his passing in 1994.
Jerry landed in Midwest City upon Paul’s retirement from the Air Force in 1964 and has lived there since. She assisted her husband with his Budget Rent-A-Car franchise in downtown Oklahoma City. She then went to work for the John A. Brown Company, followed by working for the American Fidelity Assurance Company. Jerry and Paul decided to do some traveling in the 1970’s and 1980’s, during which time she worked for American Greetings. While doing all of the above, she continued to do volunteer work for the American Red Cross at Tinker AFB Hospital and many different volunteer duties for St. Matthew’s United Methodist Church.
All the while she was raising four children. She was a dedicated mother, sewing their clothes, preparing home cooked meals and her beloved homemade bread. Her hobbies included quilting, the vegetable garden she kept, and making sure there were plenty of her homemade cookies available for everyone. Thus is the work ethic of this woman born and raised on a farm with a love of God.
She is preceded in death by her parents and her husband. Jerry will be lovingly remembered by one brother Edward Lindimore of McConnelsville, OH; one sister Edith Alexander, of Tuscon, AZ; 4 children, son Paul A. Stuart III and wife Debbie of Ft. Leavenworth, KS, daughter Francile Shock and husband Larry of Orlando, FL, daughter Diane Stuart of Midwest City, and daughter Linda Adams of Oklahoma City; her eleven grandchildren Andrea Gilman, Jennifer Honey, Donnie Stuart, Kimberly Breton, Lyndale Shock, Quentin Shock, Joel Shock, Rachel (Di) Uberia, Kaitlin Shock, Keely Adams, George D. Adams IV; and twenty-three great grandchildren.
The family would like to thank the wonderful staff at Arbor House, Midwest City, for the loving care that they provided for our Mother. A memorial service will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Friday, November 9, 2012 at Bill Eisenhour Funeral Home, 8805 N.E. 23rd Street. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the American Red Cross, 601 N.E. 6th Street, Oklahoma City, OK 73104 or the charity of your choice
