

Preston, Gladys Mae (Schnell), born September 25, 1924 in Hominy, Oklahoma and died November 21, 2010 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Gladys spent her early years in Hominy before moving to western New York when the depression hit. She graduated from Olean High School in 1942. She then left for Atlantic Union College in South Lancaster, Massachusetts in the fall of 1944 and was able to attend part time through 1947 before going to work as a secretary at the Book and Bible House in Syracuse, New York. She met her husband Wilfred (Bill) Preston and they married in 1954 at St. John Lutheran Church in Allegany, New York. Gladys worked for the State University of New York at Brockport as an executive secretary where she retired in 1994. She and Bill moved Lafayette, Oregon in 1994 and then to Oklahoma City in November 1999. She was a member of the Central Seventh Day Adventist Church of Oklahoma City. She loved Jesus and her family with all of her heart. She is preceded in death by her husband Bill Preston in January 2000.
Survivors include 2 daughters, Holly J. Gayton (Wayne) of Gold Bar, Washington; and Heather S. Preston of Oklahoma City; 1 step-daughter, Meriel M. Henson (Johnny) of Ocala, Florida; 1 step-son, Orville L. Preston (Alice) of Albion, New York; three grandchildren, Vickie Lynn Gayton of Lynnwood, Washington; Richard A. Gayton (Sylvia) of Albuquerque, New Mexico; and Jaclyn J. Gayton of Gold Bar, Washington; 3 brothers, Alfred C. Schnell (Shirley) of Jones, Oklahoma; Arnold H. Schnell (Joyce) of Sandy, Oregon; and Ralph E. Schnell (Beverly) of Hornell, New York; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 24, 2010 at Central Seventh Day Adventist Church, 4747 NW 63rd St. Oklahoma City, OK, with Pastor Wayne Gayton and Pastor Mike Lawlor officiating. Burial will follow at 3:00 p.m. at Summit Ridge Cemetery, Harrah, OK. Memorial contributions are suggested to Union Springs Academy, 40 Spring Street, P.O.
