Glenn Troy Wright passed away at home on March 15, 2023. He was the husband of Jean Wright for fifteen years. He was born in Marlow, Oklahoma, and was the son of J.P. and Lillian Popejoy Wright on October 29, 1947. J.P. Wright and family processed Broom Corn in the summer, with the family on the job. Glenn worked at a gas station during high school. He joined the Navy before graduation, and was on a ship 5 miles off Vietnam transporting helicopters, supplies, and pay for the Marines in Country who came aboard for R+R, as well as new uniforms, and good food prepared by ‘Mess Cook’ Glenn and Crew. Glenn worked in the oil fields, eventually. He and his brother Bernard Wright owned and operated A-Best Roust-About Co. Wife Barbara in the office and father J.P., with the crews. When the banks of Oklahoma went down, Glenn worked as a Long Haul Trucker. Glenn was a scout leader, baseball manager and went on Baptist camping trips. He belonged to VFW and American Legion. He enjoyed traveling, boating, fishing, camping and cooking. He was generous, loved family and life in Oklahoma.
On retirement, he and Jean traveled the U.S and Canada. Glenn and Jean became Mr. & Mrs. Santa Claus at schools, meetings, family get-togethers and in Oklahoma City “Santa on the Canal” at Christmas. He finally graduated from Lindsay High School at the gym with a standing ovation.
Glenn is survived by wife, Jean Wright; daughter, Teri and husband Jeff Ackerman and children Jordyn and husband Ty, Ronnie, Travis, and Jeremy. Son, Dennis and wife Lisa Wright; Son, Troy and wife Renee Wright and their children Jessica, Valerie, Trey and wife Rachel, Clara, Journey and wife Oriona, Kaiden, Hailey, Redwood, Promise, Serenity, T.J. and foster children, stepsons Anthony and wife Donna and daughter Kyra Goodwin; John Goodwin and wife Taryn and children Jude and Nico Goodwin; great-grandchildren River, Rhett, and Esther Wright.
Preceded in death: parents, J.P, & Lillian Wright; brother and wife, Clarence and Wanda Wright; Brother and wife Wimford and Letamae Wright; brother-in-law, Dale Wright; Sister Hazel; sister-in-law Marietta Wright.
A visitation for Glenn will be held Monday, March 20, 2023 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Advantage Funeral & Cremation Service-South Chapel, 7720 South Pennsylvania Ave, Oklahoma City, OK 73159. A funeral service will occur Tuesday, March 21, 2023 at 1:00 PM at Advantage Funeral & Cremation Service-South Chapel.
Glenn will be laid to rest in Fort Sill National Cemetery, 2648 NE Jake Dunn Rd, Elgin, Oklahoma 73538.
