Helen Catherine Marshall

A celebration of Catherine’s life will be held at 1:00 P.M., Thursday, July 7, 2016 at Hillcrest Christian Church, 1501 S.W. 59th St in Oklahoma City. A memorial visitation will be held from noon until the hour of service at the church. Burial will be held at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Oklahoma City.

Helen Catherine McMillan was born on January 10, 1934 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to Truman and Thelma (Cox) McMillan. She married Lester Marshall on December 20, 1953 in Oklahoma City. They moved to Sabula, Iowa where she worked at the Sabula Speaker factory. To this union two sons were born: Kent and Dan. Catherine returned to Oklahoma City in 1979 working at Mercy Hospital and Seal Corp before retiring.

She was a member of Hillcrest Christian Church and did volunteer work at Deaconess Hospital.

Those left to honor Catherine’s memory include her son Kent (and wife Sharon) Marshall of Sabula, Iowa and son Dan (and fiancé Paula Blake) Marshall of Miles, Iowa; 3 grandchildren, Sarah Catherine ( Jon) Hartmann of Savanna, Illinois, Adam (Melissa) Marshall of Onida, South Dakota, and Eric Marshall of Minneapolis, Minnesota; and 4 great grandchildren Trapper and Eva Hartmann and Tyler and Trever Marshall; and special friend Jim Fink of Oklahoma City.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Norma Jean Nelson.

In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, memorials may be left to Hillcrest Christian Church or the Susan G. Komen Organization for breast cancer research.
