He is survived by his three children, Lois James and her husband Joe, of Yukon, Hugo Hildenbrand III and his wife Cindy, of Yukon, and Bill Hildenbrand and his wife Sara, of Norman. Hugo was preceded in death by the love of his life Virginia, daughter Jeanne Myers, and grandson Byron Stallings. “ Pop “ leaves behind 9 grandchildren and 9 great- grandchildren, 2 nephews and 2 great nephews. Upon graduation from St John’s University in New York, Hugo served his country with distinction during World War II. As an Intelligence Officer with the Anti Aircraft division he was stationed throughout Europe during his tour of duty. He was proud to have stormed the Beach at Normandy on D-Day but deeply saddened by the loss of many of his comrades during this surge. Although he received numerous medals and decorations for his service he chose not to discuss many of the details largely out of respect for his fallen brothers. Returning to New York, Pop began his long and prosperous career as a civilian; first as a Banker with Chase Manhattan Bank, then as a Special Agent with New York Life Insurance company. For more than 40 years he met the financial and insurance needs of his clients whom he considered first his friends. Pop’s life can be defined by serving others. Each summer through the Optimist Club of OKC he would conduct a state qualifying golf tournament for the Optimist Junior World Golf Tournament at Torrey Pines GC in San Diego. He would accompany the Oklahoma winners to this most prestigious international junior golf championship in which he took great pride. A public viewing will be held on Thursday May 5, 2011 from 8:00a – 8:00p at Chapel Hill Funeral Home. Services will be held to celebrate his life on Friday, May 6, at 10:00a at Chapel Hill Funeral Home, followed by a graveside service at Resurrection Cemetery.
