

Imogene Van Dyke Montgomery died Monday after a brief illness. Born July 14, 1925 in Oklahoma City to Ben Van Dyke and Mildred Swain, "Genie" graduated from Classen High school in 1943, where she was all-school cheerleader and football queen her senior year. She attended Oklahoma City University, where she was Freshman Queen in 1943, and worked as a secretary for many years. On April 1, 1945, she married 2nd Lt. Roy V. Montgomery, and their union lasted 58 years until his passing. Genie also was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Bob Van Dyke. She is survived by her niece Sheryl and husband Bill Lott of Oklahoma City, and their children, Rod (wife Malena, children Harrison, Audrey and Owen) of Oklahoma City, Brad (wife Roberta and son Mason) of Trabuco Canyon, Calif., and William (wife Kerry, sons Jameson and Declan) of Eagle, Colo.; and her beloved Shih Tzu, Miko. The family thanks Dr. Rickie Conrady for years of care and concern, and Genie's nursing staff at Concordia and Good Shepherd Hospice team for their loving care. Services are at 10:30 a.m. Friday at All Souls Episcopal Church, 6400 N. Penn. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her name to Habitat for Humanity, American Diabetes Association's Oklahoma chapter, Free to Live or your favorite charity.
