James Roger Howell, Jr., the son of the late James and Clara Howell, was born January 4, 1932, in Raleigh, NC. Jim entered into eternal rest on November 11, 2017, in Bethany, OK at the age of 85 years.
Jim joined the US Navy in 1950 and was honorably discharged from the Navy after four years of service.
Jim married Nancy Howell in 1955 and had two children. Jim worked for the federal government for over 30 years as a computer systems analyst. He then worked as a deputy sheriff for Oklahoma County for 16 years.
One of Jim’s favorite hobbies was to fly airplanes. He received his pilot’s license in 1957 and instrument rating in 1997. He volunteered for the Civil Air Patrol, where he flew numerous missions.
Jim was a loving husband, father and grandfather. Survivors of Jim Howell are his wife Nancy, daughter Linda, son Steven, daughter-in-law Gayla and grandsons Jason and Steven.
A graveside service will be held 2 p.m., Tuesday, November 14, 2017 at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
