Jerry Lyle Jones

In loving memory of Jerry L. Jones who passed away May 1, 2024 at Integris Baptist Oklahoma City with family that loved him by his side.

Jerry was born on August 18, 1943 to parents Ray and Retha Lawson Jones at the family farm in Foil, Missouri.

Jerry attended Clark School, a one room school in Foil, then graduated from Ava High School in 1960.

Jerry had a career working in the meat industry in Wichita, KS. Jerry worked for Safeway Meat Processing, Farmland Foods, and Kroger Foods retiring in 2015.

Jerry loved reading the Douglas County Herald newspaper, watching old western movies and tv shows. He loved men’s college basketball, Kansas City Chiefs, St. Louis Cardinals, and the Kansas City Royals. He especially loved telling stories about his youth growing up in SW Missouri.

Jerry may have lived in Kansas but Missouri was his home.

Jerry is preceded in death by his parents Ray and Retha Jones, 2 brothers Nicky Dean Jones and Rick Jones, and a sister Eileen Jones Anderson.

Jerry leaves to cherish his memory, Mary J. Foreman his wife and life partner, and Molly his best friend. His children Geraldine –Moats and Rick, James (Jim) and Cassandra Jones, Jeri and Jerry Chapel and 7 grandchildren.

His siblings, Eugene (Gene) and Theresa Jones, Pat Jones, Verl and Mitzi Jones, Judy and Jerry Spurlock, Cheryl and George Lansdown, Rhonda and Rodney Yost along with numerous nephews and nieces, cousins, family and friends.

Per Jerry’s wishes, his remains were cremated by Bill Eisenhour Funeral Home NE in Oklahoma City, OK.

A graveside service will be Saturday, October 19, 2024 at 12:00pm at Thornfield Cemetery in Thornfield, Missouri.

Jerry will be forever loved and sorely missed!
