

John David Betten, husband to Angela Betten, went to meet his Lord and Savior on October 22, 2012. John was born at Tinker Air Force Base on November 16, 1964 to Carlene and John Betten. John was married to Angela Steele on August 31, 1990 and they had the most wonderful 22 years together that anyone could ask for.
He attended the University of Central Oklahoma and received a Bachelor’s degree in Sociology and Substance Abuse studies. He pledged Alpha Kappa Delta Chapter Epsilon. John was on the Dean’s Honor Roll six times, a part of the National Sociological Honor Society, Vice President of T.A.D.C.A. and was a member of the Oklahoma Drug Alcohol Professional Counselor Certification Board.
He served with the 101st Airborne, 45th Infantry and the 725th Support Battalion. He received four Army Achievement Medals, two Good Conduct Medals, two Humanitarian Service Medals, Army Special Forces Expeditionary Medal (Haiti), three Campaign Medals with Southwest Asia, United Nations Medal, Air Assault Wings, National Defense Service Medals, Professional Development Ribbons, and he was invited numerous times to join Delta Force. He was also a non-commissioned officer training supervisor, platoon sergeant, generator mechanic, a special mission United Nations Peace Keeper, led his platoon during Kuwaii tsunami relief efforts as well as many other achievements.
John enjoyed Sooner football and spending time with his loved ones. He was a soldier, writer, artist, surfer, comedian, gun enthusiast, great father and friend and above all a perfect husband. John’s greatest accomplishment of all was being a husband, father and grandpa.
John is survived by his loving wife, Angela Betten, daughter, Lauren Alexander and son-in-law, Kassel Alexander, son, Beau Betten and daughter-in-law, Heather Betten, precious daughter, Baylee Betten, granddaughter, Belle Betten, sister, Cindy Graber and brother-in-law, Lloyd Graber, brother, Charles Betten, his nephew, Hunter Betten and father, John Betten. He was preceded in death by his mother, Carlene Betten.
