

John Meyer Heinlen, 79, went home to the Lord Thursday evening, August 27, 2015. John was born on Valentine’s Day, February 14, 1936 in Healdton, Oklahoma. His parents were Edward C. Heinlen and Ursula (Sue) Mae Myers Heinlen. Siblings were older sisters, Helen Ruth and Martha Sue and one younger sister, Mary Anne. They all attended the 1st Baptist Church. John attended Healdton schools all twelve years and graduated in 1954. He excelled in music, both vocal and instrumental, playing the trombone in high school and college. John loved the outdoors and all kinds of sports, both playing and watching. A career in the United States Armed Forces took 20 plus years of John’s working life. He finished his working days with the United States Postal Service and retired to a life of golf, travel, and keeping up with family and friends. He was an avid OU fan and also followed the Oklahoma City hockey and basketball teams. Golf was his greatest passion. John was a good soldier and happily jumped out of airplanes in service of his country as well as treating the wounded in Vietnam and sometimes delivering a baby. He was a fine brother, son, cousin, uncle and friend. Many, many people will miss him dearly. He is survived by sisters, Martha Sue Heinlen and Mary Anne Kidd; nieces and nephews, David Powell, Kimberley Anne Richardson, Kristen Suzanne Kidd, and Joanna Denise Zeromski; great nieces and nephews, Andrew Robert Richardson, Denise Lynne Richardson, Ryan Patrick Tubbs, and Nathan Garret Tubbs as well as a host of other family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Helen. Funeral services will be held 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, September 1, 2015 at Bill Eisenhour Northeast Chapel with burial following at Mt. Olive Cemetery in Healdton, OK at 2:30 p.m.
