He was born and raised in Norman Oklahoma. At the age of 15 he was employed at Stay Ready Oil Filters. Then he went to work at Perry Filters and later transferred to Air Refiner where he retired.
Racing and fishing were his main hobbies. He loved building race cars. Him and Horace Hamlin were quite the pair building those cars and had their own magic when doing so. He will be remembered for that by many.
He is survived by his wife Hazel Gilmore. His children Mike Gilmore, Jeanna Davis and husband Kenneth, Rusty Gilmore and wife Tammie, Amber Gilmore, Julie Valentine and husband Mark, and Rick Embry. As well as several grandchildren Chris Gilmore and wife Dayna, Ryan Gilmore, Sarah Gilmore, Bennie Gilmore, Brandon Gilmore, Arie Gilmore and wife Rebekah, Kelli Hammons, Johnny Richardson, Jennifer Richardson, Brandon Kirkpatrick and wife Jeannie, Chelsea Bauchmoyer and husband Tyler, Jeret Smith, and several great grandchildren.
The viewing will be held all day Thursday October 9th, 2025 then that evening from 4pm to 7 pm with family.
