Joyce Belle O’Daniel, 70, of Tuttle passed from this earth on November 9, 2018, with her loving family and friends by her side. Services have been entrusted to the care of Advantage Funeral & Cremation Service and celebration of Joyce’s life will be held on Tuesday, November 13, 2018, at 10am at the First United Methodist Church in Tuttle. Public visitation will be held on Monday from 10am to 8pm at Advantage Funeral Home located at 7720 S. Pennsylvania in OKC.
Joyce was born on July 30, 1948, in OKC to Frederick and Georgia “Pearline” (Garrett) Baumann. She grew up in Tuttle and graduated from Tuttle High School. While in high school, Joyce would oftentimes make a trip to neighboring Minco to eat at their Dairy Boy. On one of these trips she encountered a young man who was quite fond of her long blonde hair and beautiful blue eyes. They began dating, and in 1968 Joyce married the love of her life, Neil O’Daniel. Neil and Joyce recently celebrated 50 years of marriage.
Joyce spent several years raising her two kids before accepting a job with the State of Oklahoma. She worked for DHS for 17 years and was instrumental in developing the WIC (Women Infants and Children) Program. She retired in the mid 1980’s but retired life didn’t suit her. A few months later Joyce and Neil opened Tri-City Trees, a tree farm located in Grady County. Even in her later years, Joyce regularly worked circles around Neil and their much younger staff members.
Joyce was a kind and generous woman who loved to do crossword puzzles, gardening, and spending time with her grandchildren and many friends. Joyce’s faith was an important part of her life and she was a longtime member of the First United Methodist Church in Tuttle, where she also served as a youth sponsor. She was also a member of the Red Hat Society, the Tuttle Improvement Committee, as well as being a former member of both the Eagles and Elks Lodge in Chickasha. Joyce was never happier than when she was surrounded by her kids, grandkids, siblings, and friends. She was truly as beautiful on the inside as she was on the outside, and she will be lovingly remembered by all who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her beloved grandson Keigan Stroud, and four siblings: Dorothy Dobbs, Eddie Baumann, Bill Baumann, and Bob Baumann. Joyce is survived by her husband and best friend Neil O’Daniel; Two children: Brian O’Daniel and Andrea Battle and husband Brandon; 6 grandchildren: Adyson and Skylar Ramer, Karly, Asher and Julia Battle, and Michael Loudermilk; a great grandson Samwise Stroud; 6 siblings: Carol Miller, Connie Banker, John Baumann, Lonnie Baumann, Coco Baumann, and Steve Baumann. She was also survived by numerous other family and friends.
