

Julie was raised in Harmon County and graduated from Hollis High School in 1987. Julie played the saxophone in the Tiger Band, along with being drum major she was also named band queen and Jr. Aeolian queen her senior year. After graduation she attended Southwestern Oklahoma State University in Weatherford, OK for a short time before moving to Del City, OK. There she met and married Don Gentry. From this union came Julie’s pride and joy, her two sons Ryan Blake and Matthew Lane. From t-ball to varsity high school games, Julie was always in the stands cheering and supporting her boys in everything they did. Julie was a survivor of the 1995 OKC Murrah building bombing.
Family was the center of Julie’s life. She was always the one to plan family lake trips, holidays and make sure everyone was taken care of. She would travel endless miles to attend her nieces’ and nephews’ activities. On July 4, 2015 Julie married the love of her life, David Lay. Together with him and her boys, Julie was living her best life.
She was a true rocker at heart, loved music, gardening and crafting. Julie would light up a room with her smile and her contagious laugh. She had a servant’s heart of gold; she was truly our sunshine.
Preceded in death by her father, WA “Jess” Jesseph, and stepson, Mark Cobb.
Julie is survived by her husband, David Lay of Choctaw, OK; two sons, Ryan Gentry and fiancé Michelle Melton of Choctaw, OK, Matthew Gentry of the home in Choctaw, OK; stepson, Zach Smith and wife Keri of Bethany, OK; stepdaughters, Kim Cobb of Edmond, OK; Angela Ellis and husband Chris of OKC, OK; step-grandchildren, Zade Smith, Jay Cobb, Lauren Cobb and son Kaisen; mother, Virginia Jesseph of Hydro, OK; brothers, Allen Rasco of Garland, Tx; Jimmy Jesseph and wife Carla of La Vernia, Tx; Gary Rasco and wife Beth of Garland, Tx; Mike Jesseph of El Dorado, KS; Jeffery Jesseph and wife Tena of Gould, OK; sister, Anita Eichelberger and husband Doug of Hydro, OK and host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and life long friends.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, January 8, 2020, at the Bill Eisenhour Northeast Chapel, 8805 NE 23rd Street, Oklahoma City, OK with interment to follow at the Hydro Masonic Cemetery, Hydro, OK.
