

Julie May Sorenson, age 76, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Thursday, February 24, 2022. Julie was born and raised in Duncan, Oklahoma. She attended Duncan High School where she was a proud member of The Majorettes. Upon graduation from high school, Julie attended The University of Oklahoma where she earned a degree in English. Julie was a member of the Delta Gamma sorority during her years at OU. While in college, she met Bill, the love of her life. Julie and Bill were married in 1967 and established a wonderful life together in Edmond, Oklahoma. They ran a successful gift store, Handmakers, for thirteen years. Julie also ran a business with her sister, Bonnie, for many years. Julie and Bill celebrated fifty-four years of marriage prior to Julie’s passing.
Julie was a loving wife, mom, and May-Me. She was always so proud of her children and grandchildren. Julie was also very talented and had many interests and hobbies. She loved working in her yard where she had created many different kinds of gardens. You could find her working in her cutting garden, vegetable garden, or flower gardens each day. Julie took great pride in her work, and she was always very happy to show people around her gorgeous yard. Julie was also a wonderful artist. Over the years she painted many murals, created unique home furnishings, and baked many delicious wedding cakes for her family and friends. She was always happy to share her many talents with the people she loved.
Julie was preceded in death by her parents Emma and Roy D. Goodner, her brother Thomas Goodner, and her sister Virgina Newman. She is survived by her husband Bill Sorenson, her daughter and son-in-law Jenny and Jeff Proznik, her son and daughter-in-law Taylor and Debra Sorenson, grandchildren Madeline and Nickolas Proznik and Harrison and Jackson Sorenson, her sister Bonnie Rice Fowler, her twin brother and sister-in-law Bobby and Cindy Goodner, and many other loving relatives and friends. Julie will be dearly missed by all who knew her. A celebration of Julie’s life will be held at a later date.
