Kathleen Jean Simpson Ayarza, 78, of Guthrie, Oklahoma returned to her heavenly home on June 16, 2023. She was born August 3, 1944 in Minneapolis, Minnesota, to Raymond Norton Simpson and Mary Jean (Gravelle) Simpson.
She married Carlos E. Ayarza on April 2, 1966. The couple shared 41 wonderful years together, raising their family, until his passing in February 2008.
Family was everything for Kathleen. She strove to be a good mother and role model to her children; and when her grandchildren came along, she embraced the role of grandmother whole-heartedly. Holiday gatherings and family vacations topped her list of favorite activities, followed closely by antique shopping.
Though she leaves behind a huge hole in so many hearts, her loved ones will all remember Kathleen’s unconditional love and the many lessons that she taught them about life, love, and faith.
Kathleen is preceded in death by her husband Carlos E. Ayarza and sister Laura Ivan.
She is survived by her children Chuck Ayarza, wife Jane Anne, of Guthrie, Oklahoma, Heidi McCall, husband Tim, of Godley, Texas, and Heather Massey, husband Trent, of Flower Mound, Texas; her siblings Kevin Simpson, wife Chrissy, of Gilbert, Arizona, Rusti Martinson, of Pahrump, Nevada, Cindy Lindstrom, of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; grandchildren Jonathan Ayarza, Joshua Ayarza, Jessica Ayarza, Dustin Ayarza, Bethany Ayarza, Amber Howard, Matthew Gulick, Aleese Warren, Austin McCall, Wyatt Massey, Mary Massey, and Wesley Massey; as well as 14 great-grandchildren, three nieces, and five nephews.
A funeral service in honor of Kathleen will be held Tuesday, June 20, at 2:00 p.m. at Chapel Hill Funeral Home, 8701 N.W. Expressway, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma 73162. Following which she will be laid to rest at Resurrection Memorial Cemetery, 7500 W. Britton Road, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma 73132.
