Kevin Dixon, 62, of Oklahoma City, OK, passed away on May 26th, 2024 after a long and courageous battle against a brutal and relentless disease. We lost a loving, loyal and gentle soul who is at peace now in his father’s mansion.
Kevin was born July 7, 1961 in Oklahoma City and attended Putnam City Schools, graduating from Putnam City High School (now PCO) in 1979. Kevin was a natural athlete who played football, basketball and excelled in golf and baseball. He attended college on a full scholarship for baseball and graduated from Central State University in Edmond (now UCO) with his Bachelor of Science degree in business in 1983.
Kevin worked part-time for United Parcel Service (UPS) while in college. His strong work ethic landed him a full-time job with UPS upon graduation. For many years, he drove a UPS van and delivered packages; his big grin and friendly personality led to making many friends with his customers along his route. Later he moved to driving semi-trucks for UPS. He forged many lifelong friendships with other drivers at UPS, including his poker buddies.
That is what Kevin did for a living, but his life was about his family. He was an amazing husband, father, brother and son. He was devoted to the love of his life, the former Leah Cuppy. He loved going to and supporting his kids in their sports and activities. He loved getting together with his brother and sisters to play games or just talk about life and tell a joke or two.
Kevin is predeceased by his mother Corrinna Mae (Cox) Upton of Oklahoma City, his stepfather Ernest (Ernie) Logan Upton, Jr of Bella Vista, Ark, and his father, Donovan (Don) Lee Dixon, Sr. of Nevada, Tx. He is survived by his beloved wife, Leah Nora (Cuppy) Dixon, his four children Jessica (Hunt) Stephens and husband Gene, Brett Dixon and wife Gracie, Katy (Hunt) Armstrong and husband Jarod, and Valorie (Dixon) Cumming and husband David, as well as his grandchildren Beckett, Mercer and Oliver Stephens, Bryson and Vida Dixon, Hunter Walls and Ellie Armstrong, and Corina and Colt Cumming. He also leaves behind his brother Donovan Dixon and wife Anna of Austin, Texas, and sisters Julie (Dixon) Tate of Norman, OK, Susan (Dixon) Dominguez and husband Dan of Edmond, OK, Becky (Dixon) Stevens and husband Robert of Mustang, OK, as well as his stepmother Tamra Lea (McCollough) Upton, and many nieces and nephews who loved him.
A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, June 15th at 10:00am at Chapel Hill Funeral Home in Oklahoma City. The graveside service will immediately follow on-site at Chapel Hill Cemetery.
