LaChresia Ann Whitley was born December 19, 1940 in Wanette, Oklahoma to Ray and Idell Furr. She attended high school in Richmond, California, graduating in 1958. She lived in the San Francisco Bay area and then Paradise, California before returning to Oklahoma in 1980. She lived in Prescott Valley, Arizona from 2008-2015, then returned to Oklahoma again. She died after a long illness on December 16, 2019. She was surrounded by her family and friends right up to the end.
Although she was shy, you’d never know it meeting her. LaChresia was warm and welcoming to everyone she met. She would do anything for her children. Every friend her kids brought home was told to call her Mom, and she took them all under her wing. Once she had grandchildren, they were the light of her life. It didn’t matter how they came to be hers, she claimed and loved them with all her heart.
LaChresia loved to travel, especially cruising. She cruised with her friends, her family, or combinations of the two. Country dance was also something she greatly enjoyed, especially a good two-step or a waltz. She was always up for a trip, even spending Thanksgiving 2019 on the road with her grandkids.
She always lived life her own way. Her favorite meal was dessert.
LaChresia was preceded in death by a son, Curtis Eugene Whitley, June 9, 1962. She is survived by her son David Whitley and his wife Stacia; daughter Linda Pahdoco and her husband Jim; grandchildren Riley Whitley, David Whitley II, Bryce Berning, Chase Berning, Haley Berning, Jennifer Etris, and Cody Dickson; and several great grandchildren.
