

Larry Ashton Colt passed away peacefully at home on May 13, 2023 with his loving family at his side. Larry was born January 31, 1941 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, the only child of Robert Leonard and Wilma Lee (Trull) Colt.
A life-long resident of Oklahoma City, Larry attending Harding school starting in the 7th grade and was only the second graduating class of Harding High School. He went on to further his studies at Oklahoma City University where his love of opera and classical music formed. In 1964, Larry received his Bachelor of Music degree. While at OCU, he joined the Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia Fraternity and was an active member.
Larry served in the United States National Guard for 6 years in Konawa, Oklahoma. Larry has the biggest collection of Opera music.
Shari and Larry became reacquainted after some time and were married April 18, 1972. As newlyweds and throughout their 51 years of marriage, Shari and Larry played tennis.
Larry was a man of God and it was important to him to raise his family in a Christian home. Larry and Shari were members of Quail Springs Baptist Church. Larry sang many, many solos at church, anytime a gifted tenor was needed. Larry looked forward to Sundays to spend time with family, church and brunch. Larry carried his love for opera with him throughout his entire life and today has the biggest collection of opera music.
He is survived by his wife Shari Colt of Oklahoma City, OK; sons Robert Ashton Colt and wife Sarah Ann Colt, Jay Ashton Colt and wife Rebecca Erin Colt both of Oklahoma City, OK; grandchildren Taylor Ashton Colt, Jayden Erin Colt, Ashton Owen Colt and Alex James (AJ) Colt; two nieces and his beloved Baron Leckhaus Colt.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday, May 18, 2023 from 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. A service to celebrate Larry’s life will be 10:00 a.m., Friday, May 19, 2023 at Chapel Hill Funeral Home with interment in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
