Larry was an amazing man – full of life! He graduated from Ninnekah High School in 1965 where he played basketball. He went on to briefly join the U.S. Navy, which ended with an honorable discharge. He lived in several cities across Texas and Oklahoma - Houston & Oklahoma City were his primary residences. He lived out his nearly 30-year marriage to Mrs. Betty Lou Martinez in south Oklahoma City, where he also retired from Sara Lee Bakery. Larry’s time at Sara Lee was a prominent part of his life. He met several life-long friends at the bakery whose company he continued to enjoy throughout retirement. He and his buddies loved to meet up for breakfast when time allowed.
His hobby was traveling to rural Oklahoma towns to watch high school basketball games. He loved going to Alex, OK, the Anadarko tournament, and The Big House to watch his favorite teams and to spend time with some of his best friends: The Weedn’s and Monte Ginnings just to name a few. Larry enjoyed his retirement to the max. He took Betty to Las Vegas on several occasions where of course they made several friends. He traveled to Texas, California & Arizona to visit his children and grandchildren. He even traveled all the way to California by train - he really enjoyed that trip. These trips to see his children were the absolute highlight of his life. He also loved keeping busy - going to visit with his buddies at the pharmacy, the bank and more. He enjoyed karaoke where he'd sing Can't Help Falling in Love by Elvis Presley. Larry was an avid movie-goer as well. He loved going to Tinseltown Theater to enjoy a large bucket of extra salty popcorn and a Coca-Cola - his absolute favorite snack!
