Laura Beth Yount, 91, left this earth on May 4th at Hospice House. She was the beloved partner of Thadis Walter Yount, Jr. They shared 65 years together.
Born in Chickasha, OK, she was the daughter of Effie Salone and James Dirickson. She was a proud “Chickasha Chick” and upon graduation attended the elite Sisters of Mercy Nurses Training. Upon graduation, she began her long career as a pediatric nurse with Dr. Bilstein for 17 years. Following that she worked as the School Nurse at Capitol Hill Middle School for an astonishing 21 years.
She was a member of Southern Hills Baptist Church, and more than anything else, enjoyed being with her grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren. She will be remembered for her nurturing spirit and her dedication to her family.
She is survived by Marc Yount, son; Hayley Beth Yount Severe, daughter; grandchildren James Preston Yount, David Evan Severe, Lauran Taylor Severe; and great grandchildren Bradley Yount, Ashlee Yount, Manakai Palombo, Azlan Palombo and Rumi Palombo; great-great grandchildren Harper, X’avion, Alayna, Khe’lani and Myrah; and beloved companion Charlie. We would also like to recognize Laura’s faithful caregiver and best friend, Amanda Cooper.
The memorial service will be held on May 9, 2024, at 11am at Advantage Funeral, South Chapel, 7720 South Pennsylvania Avenue, Oklahoma City, OK. Internment will be at Rose Hill Cemetery, 1802 S. 10th St, Chickasha, OK. The visitation will be held Wednesday, May 8, 2024 from 4pm to 6pm at Advantage Funeral, South Chapel.
