Linda Lou Pfenning was born in Hobart, Oklahoma, on August 8, 1943, to Mildred and Eldan Pfenning. She grew up on a farm in Gotebo, Oklahoma, with big brother Dwight, and little brother, Ronnie. Linda took Ron everywhere with her (even drag racing in their mom’s 56 Buick…she never lost a race). She was independent, beautiful and adventurous. In 1960 she married Joe Riddle and they had two children, Robert and Robin. She faced many challenges as a young woman and faced each one head on with determination. She earned her GED, worked as a secretary at Del City Bank, spent many years as a landman and retired from Chaparral Energy in Oklahoma City. In 1988, she met the love of her life on a blind date and Linda and Jerry Greenwood were married and made their home in Oklahoma City on October 26, 1991. Together they lived a life of laughter, music, sports, and adventure. They created lasting memories on outings with lifelong friends, cheering on the Oklahoma State Cowboys, and especially embracing the role of grandparents to their eight grandchildren. Their devotion to one another has been beautiful to witness. After a diagnosis of Parkinson’s Disease in the fall of 2025, Jerry faithfully cared for Linda until her passing on February 9, 2026. Linda’s fierce determination and Jerry’s loving devotion have been an inspiration to all who knew them. Linda was preceded in death by her parents, Mildred and Eldan Pfenning, son-in-law Glen Elliott, and grandson Matthew Elliott. She is survived by her husband Jerry, son Robert Riddle and wife Dee of Jensen Beach, FL, daughter Robin Elliott of Fort Gibson, OK, brother Dwight Pfenning of Norman, OK, brother Ron Pfenning and wife Trish of Hobart, OK, stepson Jonathan Greenwood of Edmond, OK, and stepson Jason Greenwood and wife Erika of Edmond, OK. She is further survived by her grandchildren Ross Riddle, Staci Riddle, Kristopher Elliott and wife Cheyenne, Rachel Archer and husband Colton, Connor and Finley Greenwood, and Saylor Greenwood. Great grandchildren include Austin and Desmond Riddle, Indie Elliott, and Carter, Jonathan and Juliet Archer. Also preceding her are nieces Kristen Williams and husband Cam, Kody Suanny and husband Steven, Chelsea Pfenning, Karla Rehring and husband John, and nephew Kurt Pfenning and wife Brande. Linda will be greatly missed by so many of us, but her spirit will always be with us.
A graveside service will be held at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, located at 8701 Northwest Expressway, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma on Saturday, February 14, 2026, at 2:00 pm.
