During Lonnie’s life she has lived in Bethany, Oklahoma (1971), Piedmont, OK (1980), and she finally settled in Cashion, OK in 1980, where she lived until her passing.
On November 19, 1964, Lonnie married the love of her life, George F. Goodgion Jr. The two spent 38 years together until his passing in 2001.
Lonnie’s perfect day would consist of a good cup of coffee in the morning and spending the day outside playing and laughing with the kids. Her laughter was contagious and would often be heard when someone fell, reminiscing on old times, or sharing times where her brothers stuck up for her.
Family was so important to Lonnie and she has instilled strong family values in her children. Lonnie was president of the Best Grandma Club, which consisted of nineteen grandchildren and seventeen great grandchildren and every one of them felt like her favorite.
She had a strong faith in the Lord and was always known to be a loving, caring person who could be very stubborn at times. Often you would hear Lonnie playing and singing tunes of Elvis Presley, as he was her favorite musical artist. A special color to Lonnie was red, a color that signifies strength and resilience, and a great definition of who Lonnie was.
Lonnie was preceded in death by her husband, George F. Goodgion Jr., brothers, Lewis Hicks, Arthur Hicks, Albert Ragland, Joe Mayfield and wife, Foy, Willie Ben Mayfield, and sister, Vera Patterson and husband, Vernon Patterson.
Her life will be cherished by her children, Freddie Goodgion of Cashion, OK, George Goodgion of Cashion, OK, Lonie Goodgion of Tupelo, OK, and Virgie Vaughn (Burkett) of Cashion, OK, sister-in-law, Willa of McComb, OK and Carla Jean Gunter of Cashion, OK.
