Lyndell had a lifelong love of the outdoors, nurtured during his many years in Boy Scouts, where he proudly achieved the rank of Eagle Scout. He was also a talented athlete, excelling in gymnastics and earning spots on both his high school and the University of Oklahoma gymnastics teams. After graduating from OU in 1974, Lyndell married his college sweetheart, Elaine, and began his career as a pharmacist. His friendly personality and caring nature earned him many long-time customers.
Lyndell and Elaine raised two daughters in a home filled with the sounds of classic rock music. Later in life, he became a hobbyist runner and enjoyed frequent visits to the local gym. In retirement, Lyndell found his greatest joy in spending time with his four grandchildren. As “Grandpop,” he could often be found at ball games, fixing cherished toys, and watching cartoons with a grandchild on each knee. His love and devotion to his family is already deeply missed.
Lyndell is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Elaine; daughters Christy Ishii (Hiroki) and Rebecca Ambrosi (Stefan); grandchildren Emma Ishii, Kai Ishii, Nicolae Ambrosi, and Eleanora Ambrosi; sisters Patricia Waddick and Alisa Yancey; as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A memorial service for Lyndell will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, January 24, 2025, at Hahn-Cook/Street & Draper Funeral Home in Oklahoma City.
