Marge Schaeffer

5 abril, 1930 – 24 marzo, 2026
Obituario de Marge Schaeffer
EN EL CUIDADO DE

Hahn-Cook/Street & Draper Funeral Directors

After a life marked by devotion to God and loving care for her two sons, Marjorie Lee Schaeffer departed the body she inhabited for 95 years and is now present with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Before experiencing the complete joy of citizenship in heaven, Marge was born in Little Rock to Edwin and Lois Brown and raised in St. Louis with younger sister Imogene and younger brother Charles, both of whom she survived.

For the bulk of her last seven-plus decades, Marge was an Oklahoman, residing first in Oklahoma City, then Stillwater, Tulsa, and Edmond. She completed the circle back to OKC, where she spent her last six-plus years living independently in a community for seniors. Blessedly, she maintained every bit of her mental faculties until her fearfully and wonderfully made body, rendered increasingly frail by the processes of life, gave out. Marge passed away peacefully while reading in her living room. Found next to her, appropriately, was a booklet entitled “Be Where God Is.”

Having served as an employee of Southwestern Bell for more than a quarter century, Marge retired in 1992. Already an experienced vacationer, she embraced the chance to further pursue her love of travel, taking a multitude of trips to destinations inside and outside the United States. An excursion to Israel was her favorite.

Most notably, retirement gave Marge the opportunity to dive into God’s word like she never had. For seven years, she was a steadfast participant in Bible Study Fellowship, taking her love of Scripture to a new level. And as a good and faithful servant, she embraced, into her late eighties, teaching the Bible to a Sunday morning women’s class at Quail Springs Baptist, Marge's church home for her final 32 years.

Marge is survived by sons Rick Schaeffer (and his wife Adelaide and their son Benny) and Steve Schaeffer (and his wife Kellie). Aside from the saving grace of her Lord, whose death on a cross provided a once-and-final atonement for her sins, Marge unequivocally considered Rick and Steve her two greatest gifts from God. And both will attest that she was a mother not only deeply loved but fervently admired.

To those reading this, Marge would want to impart one thing: Believe in the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will be saved (Acts 16:31). Death has no sting for those granted eternal life through God’s resurrected Son. And to those she knew who are one with Christ, Marge looks forward to seeing you again.
