

Born in Dassel, Minnesota, she was the daughter of Hjalmar G. and Mabel A. Gustafson (Johnson). She graduated from Dassel High School. She served in the Navy from Oct 1960 to Oct 1963. She then received her Associate from Oklahoma City Community College in Nursing. Margene worked for South Community Hospital, now Integris South, until she retired as a Registered Nurse.
She was a member of the First Assembly of God of OKC which later became Crossroads Cathedral. Margene loved most being with her grandkids. She also enjoyed visiting Colorado on her vacations to walk along trails that followed streams flowing down the mountains. She will be remembered for her kindness and meekness.
Margene is survived by her sister Joyce Johnson of Hutchinson, Minnesota; sister-in-law’s Pat Gustafson (Richard), Janet Gustafson (Kenneth) and Nancy Gustafson (Dennis); brother-in-law Kenny Paulson; son Leslie (Elena) Vap, daughter Laura (Dusty) Straight; Grandchildren Chelsea Vap, Brooklynn Manning, Kamon Manning, Briauna Manning, Ashley Vap, Benjamin Vap, Tyler Austin Stanford, Savannah Vap, and Aliyah Vap; Great Grandchildren Hezekiah Thomas, Caiden Romo, Grayson Romo, Naomi Davis and Keanu Davis along with 27 nieces and nephews . She was predeceased by her parents Hjalmar and Mabel Gustafson, brothers Richard, Marlyn, Kenneth, and Dennis Gustafson and her sisters Betty (Weirauch), Darlene (Rumsey), and Shirley (Paulson); brother-in-law Richard Weirauch, Gerald Rumsey and Leslie Johnson; and sister-in-law Carol Gustafson (Dennis).
Services celebrating the life of Margene will be held on Monday, April 11, 2022 at 2 p.m. at the Advantage Funeral & Cremation Services Chapel, 7720 S. Pennsylvania Ave., Oklahoma City, OK 73159
