Marilyn H. Bussell was born on May 26, 1922, in Malden, Mass. to William Henry Doucette and Mary H. (Machado) Doucette. She attended school and spent her early adult life in the Malden area. When she was 20 she met a young U.S. Coast Guard sailor from Oklahoma named Raymond L. Bussell and after a whirlwind courtship they were married in Melrose, Mass. on October 24, 1942. They moved to Oklahoma in 1947 and began raising their family. They raised 3 children Linda, Raymond (Jim), and Joseph (Joe). Marilyn's house was always full of family who she loved dearly. Her sense of humor and quick wit was always refreshing and entertaining. She was a very positive person and could always put a smile on your face. She loved playing cards and occasional trips to the casino to watch the reels on the slot machines spin. As she aged she moved into an assisted living center. She was a favorite of the staff there and they would always spend a little extra time with her and give her special attention. She loved visitors, she would light up when she saw them and especially loved her grand-puppy Sophie. If we went to visit her and didn't bring Sophie she would look at us and ask why we didn't bring Sophie to visit her. She lived to the age of 98 and always claimed that good genes and a laid back personality were the key to her longevity. When we told her how old she was she always said, "Gee I don't feel that old, do I look that old?" We were starting to believe that she would outlive us. She left to claim her heavenly reward on January 23, 2021. She was met at the gates of heaven by her husband Raymond (who loved her with all his heart) and two beautiful grand-daughters Denise and Kara who preceded her in death. She leaves behind 3 children and their spouses, 9 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren. She will be truly missed. May she rest in peace.
