Marjorie Adele Jones Daniels gained her Heavenly wings Friday evening, May 5, 2017 after a long struggle with declining health. She now resides in Heaven with her Lord and Savior.Marjorie was born May 26, 1928 in Salem, New Jersey. She was raised by her mother, Verna Rae Smith Mellendorf Jones, a single mother. Her half siblings Mary Mellendorf and Kenneth Mellendorf shared the large family residence that Verna had inherited from her parents. Verna turned their home into a boarding house and was able to sustain her family with the income produced from the endeavor. Marjorie and her new husband Percy “Danny” Daniels as well as the rest of her entire family migrated to Oklahoma City in 1945. This proved to be a good and prosperous move for them all. Her husband enrolled and received his Bachelor Degree from Central State College in 1951. Marjorie attended beauty school and became certified.
Both, Marjorie and Danny accepted employment at Tinker AFB in Midwest City, Oklahoma. This began Danny’s work career in civil service up until his retirement from the Federal Aviation Agency (FAA). The family lived in Great Britain for three years and lived nine years in Anchorage, Alaska until retirement to Willow Springs, MO and then to Marshfield, MO until finally settling back in Oklahoma City in 1976. Marjorie had been raised as a church goer, her grandfather was a Methodist minister but did not become really committed to her love of her Lord and Savior until the mid-1960’s. Her strength of commitment grew under the nurturing of her church fellowship and Bible study. Margie was a warrior for Christ and as her faith and study grew she was able to develop a strong witness and testimony that influenced many to come to The Lord. She was a faithful, sincere, blunt, diligent, thorough, caring and dedicated woman. She always followed through on her commitments and was always dependable. Her forte was homemaking and she did it all cooking three meals a day, working full time and taking care of her family. Marjorie’s faith and her family were always her priority. She could be a ball of fire when she fully believed in something! Marjorie is survived by her oldest daughter, Kathleen Vaughn (her husband Robert, their children: Shannon McCutchen, her husband Brent McCutchen and their two sons, Cole and Garrett); and Heath Vaughn (his wife, Angela and their two children, Hallie and Aidan); her son, Terry Daniels (his wife, Carmen and their four children, three sons, Shawn (his wife, Kasey and their son, Cason also Emily, Danacun and her husband, Dallion and their sons, Easton and Gunner and Skyler and his daughter, Skylee), Shane and Alex, and their daughter Heather Twichell (her husband, Andy and their son, Luke); her youngest daughter, Hollienne Heatley (widow of J.C. Heatley and children, Kaitlyn and son Michael, Drew Page and his son, Braylon and Shalina Heatley and her daughter, Alyssa). Marjorie was predeceased by her mother Verna Rae Smith Mellendorf Jones, her husband of 54 years, Percy “Danny” Daniels, her sister, Mary Ellen Ebner and her husband, Warren Ebner, and her brother, Kenneth Mellendorf.
We love you Mom and will miss you always and forever!
